Berlesques vs Coyote Ugly free essay sample
Does it ever feel like itââ¬â¢s so very hard to get what you want? Coyote Ugly and Burlesques are two very similar movies. Both of these movies show how hard people have to work to get what they want. It is smart to always push yourself and prove to yourself that you can do what your dreams are made of. When we are little and had dreams of what we wanted to come true when we get older, and as we get older our dreams may have changed, but the dreams that may have changed are the dreams we fight the hardest to make come true. We need to never give up on trying to make our dreams come true. In the movie Coyote Ugly a girl named Violet was from a small town in New Jersey. Violet wanted to sing her own songs but was afraid to, but she moved to New York City to pursue her dreams, of being a song writer and having someone else sing her songs. Burlesque is about a girl named Ali who wanted to perform on stage, but couldnââ¬â¢t in the small town Iowa where she was from. Ali moved to the big city of Los Angeles to make her dreams come true. When both Ali and Violet were trying to pursue their dreams, Ali and Violet ran into problems getting the important people to recognize them. Getting big record companies or owners of places to listen to the girls was frustrating them, but they kept on trying and never gave up. Ali and Violet have to prove themselves that they are good enough, to show these people that they are talented and can do what they want to do. Ali and Violet were having trouble proving themselves there were things that made it more difficult and challenging for them as well. The girls Violet and Aliââ¬â¢s apartments were broken into with all their belongings scattered all over the place and all their money they had saved up and hidden in their apartment was stolen from them. Along the way of their journey, they befriended some people and they eventually found someone to help them get through some of their hard times and get them back on their feet. Finally they were then able to focus on trying to get auditions and find a job that they both wanted and needed to get. Fighting for auditions and looking for a job were more struggles that they had to deal with and also trying to get someone to actually listen to what they had to offer. After becoming penniless from trying to prove themselves and getting robbed, then looking for another place to stay they had to look for a job. Once they found another place that they could stay at they finally found a job they could eventually work at. After finding a job that they both needed and wanted, both of them got denied to do the job they intended on getting, the owners didnââ¬â¢t think they were good enough. Both girls eventually proved that they can do the job they were needed for they got that job that they tried to get, one got a job at the night club in Los Angeles and the other got one at the bar in New York City. When they first started the job they had a few of the other girls that they worked with them not like them and tried to make them fail. The owners didnââ¬â¢t think that they were capable of doing what the girls said they could do. The girls both got second chances to prove themselves and they both did. One proved herself and became a backup dancer and the other one proved herself and became a bartender. Once the girls had their bosses really accept them their co works didnââ¬â¢t like them and wanted them to fail. After a while they started to see that they were good people and very talented and those people that tried to make them fail were just jealous. Finally after fighting for auditions and looking for a job they got what they wanted and needed. Even though their main dream was to sing and perform they were one step closer to achieving that of theirs dreams. The girls both became singers and performed like they wanted to. In Burlesque the girl Ali had a coworker that tried to make Ali look bad, so she had to start singing so that no one would get up and leave, the place was going to get sold if they didnââ¬â¢t make the money. The owner was so impressed and made her the star of every show and so the girl Ali started singing songs and performed by dancing as well, at the night club. When she started to perform every night she was pulling in more people to the club and making the club the money that it needed to stay open, even though, she could make the amount that she needed she figured out a way to get the money so it wouldnââ¬â¢t close down. In Coyote Ugly the girl Violet started to sing songs to stop a fight between some of the costumers drinking at the bar and getting out of control. After that night everyone would come to see her and her boss had her sing every night, and she became the main event each night and was able sing songs that were not her own, but she felt comfortable enough to sing and perform at the bar. After all the struggling and the hard times they both of their dreams finally came true and after everything they both fell in love with someone that helped them through their hard times and struggles. In conclusion the girls Ali and violet tried their hardest to do what they needed to do to get what they dreamed of. After all the girls went through they proved that they can do whatever they wanted and needed to do for themselves to make their dreams come true. No matter what life throws at you, just keep pushing through the struggles and you will get what you want, never give up. We know everything that could happen to us when we try to pursue our dreams.

Favorite Painter free essay sample
Write a short post discussing your favorite painter born before 1900. Explain in detail what it is exactly that you like about their work. Use the knowledge you have learned about the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to discuss what you like about their work. , about the medium they use or the content they explore? minimum 200 words My favorite Painter born before 1900 is Vincent Van Gogh. I love the paintings done by Van Gogh because they are very expressive of what was going on around him and his personal experiences. He uses lines freehandedly in his paintings which makes them all very unique compared to many other painters. Even though his use of lines seemed to be chaotic, there was always strong consistency. A lot of Pat Steirs work was influenced by Vincent Van Gogh. Pat Steir widely utilized Van Goghs style of painting using lines, and tapping into her emotions much like Van Gogh did whenever he painted. We will write a custom essay sample on Favorite Painter or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The feeling of painting in this manner was compared to being on a merry-go-round by Steir. Van Goghs paintings exhibited a strong cry of anguish, this is due to the way he utilizes his lines. This is especially evident in his painting of Starry Night. There is one artwork in particular that draws my attention when I think of Vincent Van Gogh. This particular work of art is The Sower, which was produced on the medium of oil on canvas. It took Van Gogh a great deal of time to complete this piece. He faced numerous difficulties, the biggest of which was finding the right color to set the painting off. He adjusted this artwork until he got the focal point where he wanted it. He did this by using a variety of different lines, straight, wide, narrow and curved. In the final product of The Sower, Van Gogh eliminated the house and tree which gave allowed the viewer to focus more on the sower himself. All the different lines used gives the artwork a sense of direction and flow. Van Goghs works were even considered to be autographic because of his style of painting.

PSAT to SAT Scores Does One Predict the Other Whats a Good PSAT Score
PSAT to SAT Scores Does One Predict the Other What's a Good PSAT Score SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips The PSAT is the first exposure many students have to college entrance exams.Because the two tests are so similar, the PSAT is very good at predicting how you'll do on the SAT.In this article, we explain the most accurate way to use your PSAT score to predict your future SAT score. A Note on This Article This article uses data based on the older version of the PSAT, when the score range was 60 to 240. In October 2015, the current version of the PSAT was first released, with a new score range of 320 to 1520. (Learn more about how the current PSAT is scored here.) As such, the data in this article is out-of-date for anyone who's taken the PSAT since October 2015,andyou cannot use the strategies below to estimate your SAT score from your PSAT score. However, the major patterns discussed below still apply. This means that, when comparing your PSAT and SAT scores, you'll likely see the biggest gains in Verbal scores, followed by Math scores. Students with lower PSAT scores will also likely see bigger gains in their SAT scores compared to students who initially scored high on the PSAT. And an effective prep strategy is still one of the best ways to improve your SAT score. The Naà ¯ve Method: Multiply Your PSAT Score by 10 to Get Your SAT Score The PSAT is incredibly similar to the SAT: they overlap by 90% or more. In fact, the two tests are so similar that you can think of the PSAT as nearly identical to the SAT. Seen this way, there is an "SAT equivalent" score for all PSAT scores: you can convert your PSAT score to an estimated SAT score just by multiplying your PSAT score by 10. For example, if your PSAT total was a 155, then the SAT equivalent would be 155 x 10 = 1550. Likewise, if you got a 42 in math on the PSAT, this is the same as a 420 on the SAT Math section. If you're just looking for the theoretical equivalent SAT score this method is good enough. In fact, in our text below, we will use the SAT-equivalent score a lot. However, some students and parents ask themselves a more relevant question: Now that I know my PSAT score, what will I likely get when I take the SAT for real? Can you predict my future SAT score based on my PSAT score? The answer is a resounding yes. How to Predict Your Future SAT Score From Your PSAT Score You need to take into account a few extra factors when doing prediction versus just conversion. First, if you've been paying attention to my series on what's a good 7th grade SAT score or what's a good 10th grade SAT score, you'll know that students improve over time. This factor is vital to a good prediction, as we show you below.Second, the SAT is not exactly equal to the PSAT. Finally, some call it luck and others call it fate, but there is some chance involved, and we must account for that. To account for all three factors, we used a large sample of thousands of real students who took the PSAT and later the SAT in their normal high school career. This way we don't need to rely on theory. We can look at the hard empirical data to see the truth. The results are below. Average Improvement From PSAT to SAT Scores: 139 Points The average improvement between the PSAT score (expressed in SAT equivalent) and SAT score was 139 points. This means that if you got a 150 on the PSAT, you can expect to get 150 x 10 + 139 = 1639 on the SAT. Remember to multiply your PSAT score by 10 to get the SAT equivalent, then add 139. What does this mean? It reflects that scores for students go up generally because they're learning more in school. Some students also receive great SAT preparation, and I believe these students improve more than average. Want to learn more about the SAT but tired of reading blog articles? Then you'll love our free, SAT prep livestreams. Designed and led by PrepScholar SAT experts, these live video events are a great resource for students and parents looking to learn more about the SAT and SAT prep. Click on the button below to register for one of our livestreams today! Breakdown by Section: Verbal, Math, and Writing The improvement wasn't evenly spread across all three sections of the SAT. In fact, Verbal scores increased the most at 62 points, while Math increased 47 points, and Writing improved only 30 points. This can be explained by the theory that Verbal subjects often require intuition that comes with maturity and training, while Writing has a new essay section that many students don't do as well on. Breakdown by PSAT Score: Low Scorers Win? You know the average improvement is 139 points, but how much you improve will also depend on your starting PSAT score. If you're a low scorer on the PSAT - if your starting score is 1200 (all scores here will be in SAT units) or below, your expected improvement is 166 points. If your starting PSAT score is 1200-1800, then your improvement is a slightly lower 155 points. Ifyou're starting as a high scorer, your expected improvement is only 64 points. Scorer Type Starting PSAT Score (x10) Improvement Expected Low Scorer Less Than 1200 166 Points Middle Scorer 1200-1800 155 Points High Scorer More Than 1800 64 Points Why is this the case? In statistical speak, this is just another example of regression to the mean. In everyday language, this can mean that if you did poorly on the PSAT, you're often motivated to study harder and prep more and improve your score (but you need to put in the effort). Likewise, it says if you're scoring high already, there's less room to grow, and if you want higher than average improvement, you're best off with help. What's Next? Critiquing Evidence Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Critiquing Evidence - Essay Example Cardiac arrest also causes neurological injury through several mechanisms. These mechanisms include reperfusion that leads to reoxygenation injury and perfusion failure which triggers cerebral ischemia. However, hypothermia can reduce the effects of reoxygenation and reperfusion. Hypothermia also decreases the cerebral metabolic rate for oxygen and provides protection against cerebral ischemia. Sometimes, mild induced hypothermia is considered beneficial to the myocardium. A small reduction of temperature affects the micro vascular blood flow in a drastic way. Several animal studies of AMI suggest that myocardial function can be improved through the mild induced hypothermia condition in the absence of cardiac arrest. However, not all the animal studies demonstrate a reduction in the myocardial damage after the induced hypothermia. Ã There are also several feasibility studies which have been performed on several individuals. These patients have undergone a primary PCI after a certai n period, after the induction of hypothermia. These studies also faced certain limitations. Some of the limitations associated with the procedure include the use of less accurate techniques such as the nuclear imaging and measuring equipments. All the studies that have been performed till lately confirm that the effect hypothermia on neurological upshot after cardiac arrest has improved, hence; this has reduced the mortality rate. The authors also talked about some of the predicaments related to the study.
